After over 30 years as a Nashville songwriter, 3 record deals and countless mentors, including the legendary country songwriter, Harland Howard, I finally stopped worrying about traditional industry ways. I was tired of trying to fit into a neat little music category. I had explored so many musical directions in my life but now I decided it was time to just write whatever made me smile. After overcoming some personal challenges, I realized life is just too short to keep chasing stardom. I decided I simply wanted to create music that brings joy.
The Story Behind the Songs
A lot of people think 64 is the age to relax into retirement, but for me, it was just the beginning of finding my true passion. What started as a way to find my own smile has turned into a growing, vibrant community of pet lovers sharing songs about their dogs, cats, and animal friends. Furthermore, I’m very excited to announce that I’ve recently signed “Emerald Jade Green Ball” with the GENNI Company to help it reach an even wider audience. I couldn't be more grateful for the chance to share these songs with all of you!
It's Never Too Late
The Inspiration
The real inspiration for the Pet Bangers came from watching my good friend Debra and her dog, Lida. Lida is 19 years old now and still going strong! I saw some of the inspiring TikTok videos Debra made of her holding Lida, and it truly warmed my heart to see how much love those videos received. My heart really went out to her because my own dog, Bitty, is now 14. I knew deep down that if Lida could be 19 and keep going, I would want to hold Bitty and show her off on TikTok if she lives that long also.
After seeing those videos, I knew I had to write a song for Debra, something she could play forever, even when Lida eventually crosses the rainbow bridge. I wanted to create something fun but also something new and fresh. That led me to begin pioneering an AI-hybrid production method using my own melodies with voice cloning to produce demos of the songs. Using these techniques. along with recruiting the help of my granddaughter, Madison, "Emerald Jade Green Ball" was born. I’m thrilled to say Debra and I have developed a beautiful friendship throughout this creative process, and it has also led to some interesting new family music projects!
